I am lucky to participate in a Sustainable Fashion exhibit in the Jill Stuart Gallery. It was coordinated by the College of Human Ecology Green Ambassadors at Cornell University. The Exhibit includes student, faculty, staff, and local community member contributions.
Since my focus on Sustainable Fashion is the intersection of New York fibers and fashion design, I included my New York Fiberscape Dress, as well as a landscape of different fibers. I put fibers at different stages including raw fibers, roving, and my hand-spun yarns. I also included the Washington County Fiber Tour video I made where I visited 10 different fiber farms last year as a way to promote the upcoming Fiber Tour this weekend! The Fiber Tour is a free community event where the public is welcomed to visit fiber farms and mills in eastern New York.
The photos below give a peak into the wide variety of interpretations of Sustainable Fashion, including upcycling, using natural dyes, and re-using existing materials such as blue jeans and newspapers. The Exhibit will be available until May 8 in the Human Ecology Building.
