My first One Year One Outfit pieces for 2016 are hand-knit socks! I’ve wanted to learn how to knit socks for several years, and am excited that I was finally able to take a sock knitting class using the Rose City Rollers pattern. I made several mistakes on my first set, but felt a lot more confident on my second set. It was a great experience working on these during a weekly knitting group at SewGreen with Katie. I also displayed my first sock at the SewGreen Alumni Night in May and shared it with several people interested in knitting and sewing!
I was ecstatic to use Finn hand-spun yarns by AlexCreates for both sets of socks. The wool is from Fossil Creek Farm in Norwich New York. I love the texture of the slub single yarns! I think it gives lots of character to both socks. The first set of socks (above) were dyed by Alex using tumeric, the second set (below) were dyed with coffee. For the second set, I also used my own hand-spun yarn in the toe tips. It is a 3-ply Icelandic wool from Trinity Farm that I dyed with eucalyptus leaves earlier this year.

I love the socks. One of my favorite things to knit is socks
